What Bush Appreciates About Filipino-Americans
Bush met with the President of the Philippines, Gloria Arroyo, on Tuesday. Hear what he had to say about his appreciation for the people of her country:
PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Oval Office. We have just had a very constructive dialogue. First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that — in which there’s a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the — of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House. (Laughter.)
PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes.
PRESIDENT BUSH: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President.
PRESIDENT ARROYO: Thank you.

Enough of Twitter.
I promise I will blog (properly) again.
I have all of the reasons to:
- I am unemployed.
- I still fidget and ramble.
- I am bored of being bored.
- It’s summer.
- I’m dusting cobwebs out of my closet.
Ooops there’s no jetlag.

Sometimes I eat potato chips with a fork or spoon. I can’t help it. Sometimes, I have an urge to not touch my food with my fingers. This where forks, spoons, knives, and even chopsticks come in handy. Call it an onset of OCD, but I have made it a habit to eat my burgers with a knife and fork, also.
Some people call it a cry for help.
——–
So I decided to use Sunday to relax, rest, and recover from Vegas. Vegas wasn’t really a trip of relaxation for me. The long nights, initial jet-lag, and pent up sexual frustration just didn’t make for great rest. The one great thing it did was get my mind off work. I can say that for a span of 48 hours, not a thought of work entered my mind. That itself is an achievement.
Craig came by in the evening to pick me up to have dinner and to help him set up the window for my newest find in East Atlanta, Bound to Be Read Books, one of the more interesting bookstores I have come by in Atlanta. The book selection is eclectic with something for everyone, and I think the highlight it has to be the children’s corner in the back. The bookstore also hosts a Children’s Storytime which I just find adorable. If I had kids, I would bring them there. Open for a little more than a year, they’re celebrating their anniversary October 27th-29th. They host an open Mic night once a month, and are located less than a block from Mary’s, the Atlanta gay bar in the East Atlanta Village.
After finishing the window, we had a late dinner/snack at Grand Central Pizza East, where above-mentioned potato chip eating habit occurred, and I thought I saw a coworker across the street going into Mary’s. My eyesight just isn’t as sharp as it used to be.
I’m Sorry.

I agree with him.
”I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.” - Dubya, NYTimes.com
This was in response to a British music producer writing a Spanish version of the National Anthem called “Nuestro Himno.”

Sometimes, while browsing online gay hookup sites (I have no shame, so what?), I do a search in areas I used to live in. Sometimes I see people I used to know, either acquaintances (who knew he was a submissive bottom?), or past fucks.
The joy is in seeing people as they have progressed over time. Of course, I know these online personals and ads do not show the full personality or their backstories, but online personals on hookup sites can be some of most raw and honest information you can know about a person. I mean, you don’t exactly share the fact that you like threeways with other people, right?
So call me a stalker already.I prefer “data-miner”.
Well, I did a search for people in Puerto Rico, and I got quite a few people, surprisingly. In hindsight, it seems that the places with the smallest, most closeted gay/lesbian communities have the biggest affinity for these online sites. I remember being in my early teens in Puerto Rico and feeling like the only gay community there was was online, especially in Gay.com chat rooms and IRC. I remember seeing people in these chat rooms that I had seen in person, either at some inter-school events and competitions, and being so excited, as if I was happy that my gaydar was developing well. Even as a kid, the smallest things filled me with glee.
So I did this search today, for people in Puerto Rico, and as I browsed through the results, i realized a few things. That the same people I saw years ago on other sites and chat rooms were still around and kicking (some with the same pics, natch). I The language is still the same, and there are the same closeted husbands and the horny people online. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever see my first, a guy I had my first tryst with, he was 20, and I was 15, and we saw each other, on and off for two years. He also had the unfortunate habit of having some pedophiliac tendencies, and the best compliment he ever paid me was that I was the only one above the age of 15 he still liked to fuck.
Like I said, as a kid, even the smallest things filled me with glee.
Scarier.

So I had a bigger scare today. I woke up to my face still being as numb as it was last night. I decided to buy some Claritin on the way to work and thought it was helping when I finally got some feeling in my teeth.
Two hours into work, I started feeling a headache, and while perusing some symptom charts online, I really, really, got scared when all my symptoms correlated to a stroke, which is really, really rare for people my age. But with the medical history of my family, I decided to take no chances, and left work and checked myself into the ER at Piedmont Hospital. I called the Princess as I was entering the ER, leaving him a message telling him where i was, and that I was going to be ok.
So I checked myself in, which got a few weird looks from the nurses (I mean, who checks himself in to the ER anyways?). The nurses and Doctor saw me shortly, and after some questions, the Doctor determined that I might just have Bell’s Palsy, since the risk of s stroke was really, really low, as mentioned. We had a CT scan just in case, which came out fine.
The Princess picked me up from the hospital after noon, and we went to pick up my prescriptions (some antiviral drugs and come cortisonals), and we had lunch at Figo on the Westside. I slept the whole rest of the day, and had dinner with the roommate and Michael and Albert at the Flying Biscuit. And afterwards the roommate and I went home to catch Fag Hags on Ice (Also known as the Women’s Figure Skating Olympic Finals).
It’s been an interesting day. As of right now, I’m still having no feeling on my right side of my mouth and chin, and my teeth and gums have regained enough feeling for me to chew. Hopefully I’ll be able to regain full muscle control and feeling in a few weeks (I can smile with some effort now), since it’s temporary, and I’m having treatment now.
Still, what a scare.
I Want This.

The GOP has finally resorted to dirty dealings. I think they are poisoning Hillary slowly. You can see the tiredness in her eyes, and the slow decay that the GOP wants her to endure. It’s simple political strategizing, scratching away at an image of power and excellence, slowly so that her public image erodes.

While working yesterday in the restaurant in Plaza Carolina (Now a Simon Mall - another sign of the growing corporate powers that be), a mother pushes her son, who’s around maybe 3 or 4 years of age, to our counter. As if he could recognize the fact that fried rice and pepper steak do not relate to the wonderful Golden Arches (yet), he keeps shouting McDonald’s, McDonald’s, McDonald’s,, pleading like any child would for what he feels is a real dinner. The mother ignores him (must be habit), and proceeds to order her own dinner of spare ribs and fried rice, and asks for an extra plate and a spoon. I guess we know what the McDonald’s child will be eating for his dinner.
As the kid rolls on by in front of me, I give him a look. Not a look of anger, but a comforting glance that said We can be just as fun as McDonald’s, you know?
He kept quiet after that, either by my stare, or the fact that he just saw a Chinese person look him straight in the eye. I tend to get a lot of reactions like that from kids here, a silence as if I was the bogeyman their parents had warned them about. Asians are the hidden minority for kids growing up, almost invisible in the media and kept behind thee counters of restaurants and laundromats.
I find it sad that a kid so young, who isn’t old enough to make full sentences on his own, has already learned to ask for the only recognizable food he knows, McDonald’s. Ask any kid his age what their preferred food is, and a majority of them will say McDonald’s, in a cute way that the corporation has used in their ads. I find it annoying, personally. I’ll admit, I used to be one of those kids, eating McDonald’s, KFC (back when they were still Kentucky Fried Chicken), Pizza Hut, and Burger King whenever I could, and it was always a treat. One infamous story was of me surviving on just McDonald’s McNuggets and milk for a whole road trip from New York to Knoxville when I was 3 or 4. Come to think of it, I was a hefty kid growing up.
But I say NO to the fast-food giants whenever I can, opting for lesser known fare, less corporate, less commercialized, and less synthetic foods when I can. Sometimes, I would rather STARVE than eat another greasy burger made by a low-paid worker whose only job is to turn the patties every 3 minutes and add ketchup, mustard or mayo. Food isn’t worth enjoying if you know it hasn’t been slaved over by a person who actually cared about how the food came out. Millions of kids in America and the world are being deprived of REAL food, and thousands of cultures are losing their heirs because kids are preferring burgers and fries to rice and the food their “uncool” parents grew up with.
