Pride Week in Atlanta
Monday, June 30th, 2008 | Gay Bloggers, announcement, faggy tendencies, queer activism | 2 Comments
While I know that Seattle, New York City, and San Francisco celebrated their Pride this past weekend, it is only ramping up here in Atlanta! I’ll be volunteering again this year as a photographer, and I hope to get as many (and better) pics as last year! You can check out my Albums here.
So in honor of this Atlanta Pride week, I’ve loaded my iPhone with the following Queer artists:
- Antony and the Johnsons
- Erasure
- Eric Himan
- Ex-Boyfriends
- Pet Shop Boys
- Lesbians on Ecstasy
- Pansy Division
- Scissor Sisters
- SlowMo Erotic
- Tegan and Sara
- The Feeling
So Happy Pride, everyone! And if you’re in Atlanta for the celebrations, i hope to see you there!
Saturday Brunch
Saturday, June 28th, 2008 | Food, love it, photo | No Comments
I decided to make a simple brunch with some bacon and cheese I had in the fridge.
I used thick-cut South Carolina Bacon, Gouda, Cheddar, and Mozzarella cheese rolled in a puff-pastry dough.
Bone Garden part Deux

They just opened a new restaurant right across form my community in West Midtown. The Bone Garden Cantina. From the same people who brought you the Vortex in Little Five Points, the place is a homage to the Mexican Dia de Los Muertos, and serves some excellent Margaritas and authentic Mexican food.

Besides their margaritas, they have an extensive list of various tequilas, and refreshing Mexican drinks. I would recommend their ceviche of ahi tuna, and their sopes and their enchiladas on their a-la-carte-style menu.
It is located at the Lumber Yard at 1425 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd, Atlanta, 30318. It just opened at the beginning of June, and it is already attracting a lot of people in the area and from outside through word-of-mouth.
You can’t make this stuff up…

What Bush Appreciates About Filipino-Americans
Bush met with the President of the Philippines, Gloria Arroyo, on Tuesday. Hear what he had to say about his appreciation for the people of her country:
PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Oval Office. We have just had a very constructive dialogue. First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that — in which there’s a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the — of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House. (Laughter.)
PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes.
PRESIDENT BUSH: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President.
PRESIDENT ARROYO: Thank you.

When Apple did their big site refresh last year, one of the coolest features (in my eyes) was the horizontal subnav in their Mac section. It was very reminiscent of Cover Flow, and even the people at 37Signals wrote up about it.
Now imagine my surprise when I happened to stumble upon the site for Dark Alley Media (Very NSFW!!!)
I don’t think Apple’s Web Site UI designers had this in mind when they made the subnav, but I know lots of sites who take their design cues from Apple.
