Being Gay in 8th Grade

Saturday, January 21st, 2006 | faggy tendencies

People who know me and my acting history know that i can’t sing for my life. I would be either relegated to roles with minimal singing as I imagined the producer cringing during the performance, or my songs would get “creatively relegated” to others.

Only once in my life have I hit the right melody, during a rehearsal for a school production of Guys and Dolls, but I have not been able to recreate it ever since.

However, I used to do a perfect imitation of Cher’s song Believe. Until my voice broke.

Yes, Cher.

I was a HUGE Cher fan, even when I was in 8th grade in the high school Computer Club, and the first web-page design I made had that line “Do you believe in life after love?” as its slogan.

And i could not understand why the Korean friend of mine looked at the line and shook his head.

Hmmm… I think we all love Cher. Sad part is while you were in 8th grade I was out of high school. I’m so old. I was dancing to Believe in clubs.

Sigh…
