It surprises me every time whenever I get reminded about how small a community the gays are in Atlanta. On my more “awake” days, I will just gaze in wonder and draw back into a pensive mood of recollection of all the connections I know. Today, recovering from a night of umm, possible hedonism, my reaction was a sissy fit.
For those who do not know, a sissy fit (not to be confused with a hissy fit) is when “Oh My God” is repeated multiple times in a row, and both palms are upturned towards the face.
I do it quite well.
Not much has been happening in my part of the blogopshere. There are some great albums that I have been loading onto my iPod, including:
Sleater Kinney - The Woods - I first heard of them through the beautiful Lauren, and this album has so far been one of the greatest guitar-riff-driven albums I have heard in a long while. The girls of Sleater Kinney deliver their brand of feminist rock one yell at a time.
Original Broadway Cast - Rent - I have a confession to make. I have never sat down and watched or heard Rent the musical in my life. All the theatre queens seemed to know the words to One Song Glory, and all I had was La Vie Boheme in my music collection. I got the two-disc Original Broadway Cast recording, and I definitely satisfied a theater queen within myself.
Some Great Podcasts
The Other O Show - Two hispanic queens, Omar and Alfredo (like the sauce), in Atlanta make you giggle and laugh in this homebrewed podcast. Omar keeps a photoblog, and Alfredo just charms you with his accent. [Podcast link here]
The Kathy Griffin Show: My life on the D-List Podcast - After getting hooked on the Bravo TV series, I downloaded the podcasts advertised on the web-site and proceeded to listen to Kathy’s commentary (recorded in her kitchen!) of the episodes of the show. [Podcast link here]
La Dolce Musto by Michael Musto - One of my idols of gab reads his weekly column from the Village Voice in a weekly podcast. [Podcast link here]
