New Place, New Sleeping Hours
Friday, August 5th, 2005 | blogging
Maybe it’s because I’m still getting used to the place, but I’m having a bit of trouble sleeping in my new place. The first thought that comes to me is that it’s gorgeous. It’s a European-style townhouse/loft, which in layman’s terms means that it was designed with gays and metrosexuals in mind. I’m renting the room (yes, I’m renting. I’m not fabulously rich enough to own my own place) from a young gaysian from Nashville who works in insurance.
It’s in a townhouse community located a bit out of ways for me (meaning a dependency on bus transportation and a renewed drive to learn to drive), but in a weighing of the pros and cons, somehow having a gym, pool, internet access, a fabulous spacious kitchen , and my own bathroom justifies the longer commute.
It hurts to live fabulously.
I would post pictures, but the roommate borrowed my USB cable, so I will be sparing you the pictures of a room-in-progress. While I managed to move pretty much all of my stuff on Tuesday, thanks to the lovable Mark, furnishings are scarce at the moment. I’m already envisioning the bookshelves, bed, and desk, all courtesy of IKEA, which is oh so conveniently located five minutes away. An in-depth review and first-impressions of IKEA will be provided soon, but all I can say is that Mark and I left the place giddy with a sense of excitement. We were in the gardening section when Mark could already be heard pontificating about the need to visit IKEA.
Right now all I have is the queen-sized mattress I purchased at said five-minute-away IKEA, and scattered essentials like iPods, chargers, and laptop giving some life to the room.
I’m writing this mostly because a post is long overdue, and also because I always have trouble sleeping in a strange environs.
