I don’t deserve my halo.

Tuesday, February 8th, 2005 | I'm a bitch and I know it.

Maybe I have too many high expectations of myself. To be the nice guy. To be the perfect employee. To be the good friend. To not give anybody any reason to be disliked or hated. Accepting, accommodating.

The reason for my lamentation, is that I found out about a person’s recent misery, and while my normal reaction is one of concern, I found myself overcome with intense feelings of amusement. I laughed in that evil laugh reserved for cartoon villains and evil bitch queens. I realized that yes, there can be joy in others’ misery, and especially if they are heavily flawed individuals who cause misery to others.

Sometimes, it’s very healthy to laugh at other people’s misery. Perhaps that is why I never get a cold. :)

I got this from listening to the soundtrack from “Avenue Q”. Listen to track 16, “Schadenfreude”.

Your posting totally made me think of it :)
Of course, now I have the tune stuck in my head.
