mistaken identity

Wednesday, January 14th, 2004 | journal

I tried to get a credit report at Equifax, since I wanted to know why I was being denied every loan and credit card for the past year. I know for sure (I think) That I have no outstanding debts.

I couldn’t even get my credit report.

The verification process asked me to provide the name of the company which gave me a mortgage loan on March 2003. It also asked to provide the amount for the monthly payments.

Funny thing is, I don’t think I even own any mortgageable property, let alone apply for a mortgage.

Scary.
